Bernie and Becky from ArtFull and Des Butler worked with several groups of disabled adults in four taster sessions during Preston Guild week in September 2012. We had help from our partners at the Harris Museum and Art Gallery, Pukar Disability Resource Centre and DENW.
In taster one the participants made the animation to reflect the way they had traveled to the session in the Harris in Preston. Some chose the real mode of transport and some chose to fantasize about the way they would like to travel.
In tasters two and four we made a D.vercity troupe for the Guild Community procession that was taking place in Preston. We wanted to reflect the diversity of the participants in the D.verCity Festival and the Guild.
In taster three we made a colourful silk painting to adorn the wall of Pukar in Preston
ArtFull are currently working on three more in depth art projects which will culminate in an exhibition about Identity as a Disabled Person in the Twenty First Century. The project is Funded by Arts Council England and Preston City Council and managed by Salvere, a social enterprise working with disabled people on independent living.
